Five TV Shows My Son Shouldn't Watch, but Does
There's at least a thousand articles out there stating that TV viewing for children should be avoided, or at least curbed. Many of which are very detailed, showing facts and figures on why kids watching TV is a bad thing. I have read many of them, and I've tried my best to avoid just letting my son, who's two-and-a-half years old, watch too much. I can honestly say, I've failed miserably. Below is a list of five shows, my son watches, but probably shouldn't.
2 commentsHow to Watch Hockey Like a Pro : Part 2
In my time as a hockey fan, I've always considered it one of the easiest games to follow. The objective is simple, and the means are fairly apparent. However, there are a lot of other things going on that can make it a deeper game, such as offensive and defensive coverage.

Ice hockey is an incredibly fast and fascinating sport. It's exhilerating, and it doesn't take much knowledge to enjoy it. However, if you watch long enough, certain things may begin to stand out to you--things that may even bother you, or maybe you'll shout your concerns to the players from your seat in the stands.
0 commentsMy Toddler's First Time Ice Skating Experience
Recently, I wrote an article about taking a toddler ice skating for the first time. That article was the result of a great deal of research I did on the topic, but at the time I didn't have any experience to back it up. But since this past Saturday, my son and I hit the ice, and although much of what I already knew was useful, I have a few follow-up tips to go with the previous article.
0 commentsIs Your Child Rough on the Family Pet?
Up until two and a half years ago, when my son was born, our animals were running the asylum. We now have a dog, two cats, and our most recent addition is a guinea pig. They are as much a part of the family as our son, but our willful toddler doesn't always treat them with the same respect that they show him. It's not exactly his fault. It's more a matter of perspective.

Are you pregnant? Are you trying to get pregnant? Could you possibly be pregnant? Is it conceivably possible you could be pregnant, and at the same time doing something that could be putting your unborn child at harm? If getting pregnant is something that is even on the back of your mind, you may want to consider the possible harm you're doing to your body.
0 commentsHow to Find Single Parent Benefits
It's tough enough to take on the roles of both Mom and Dad for a child, add the financial struggles that go along with a single income household, and it can be impossible. There is hope, however, as the government has begun a bevy of progams to offer single parent benefits.
8 commentsTake Your Toddler Ice Skating for the First Time
So, since your child's birth, you've been chomping at the bit to nurture the next Mario Lemieux or Peggy Fleming, or perhaps the very first Peggy Lemieux--or maybe you just want to share your interest in ice skating with your little one, but you're not sure where to get started.
7 commentsHow to Apply For Single Parent Benefits
Being a single parent can be a lonely experience. It's mostly mothers, with the occasional father, struggling to make ends meet month after month. It may feel like there's nothing to lean on, but the Federal and State levels of government have put into place several ways to find help. You just need to know how to go about it, and where to look for single parent benefits.
0 commentsWhat I Want Out of School For My Child
Recently, I wrote an article called, "Are Schools Interfering With a Child's Creative Freedom?", and it's something I firmly believe in. However, in hindsight, I feel the article is a bit too static to be considered useful to anyone. After considering why I wrote the article, and what my intended message was, I decided to take a different angle on it. One that was much more personal.
